This group is really starting to come along. There are more
and more useful online services coming out everyday, and I
know that there will be more. Many of these services are based
on databases (remote servers set up as digital resources of
information or to remotely perform a task based on specified
variables). A database can be extremely complex and even costly
to set up initially, since it usually takes an experience
database professional to set up, but once it is set up, it
can often run almost entirely on autopilot.
There are literally thousands of examples of this type of
service out there today, but I assure you there are literally
millions more! I have seen everything from dating services
to personalized diet programs, to online banking to having
your html code diagnosed for your website. Referral and affiliate
programs are also electronic services. There are also customer
service avenues that many companies offer via email or instant
messaging which fall into both the communication and service
categories, This type of service is an example of a service-oriented
business that is not based on a database.
Wordtracker is a powerful keyword development service that
I will be recommending to you later in this book, It is another
example of a database driven service that I personally use
quite regularly.
Once again, can you think of any others that I may have overlooked?
I’m betting that you can. Can you think of any service-oriented
online business ideas of your own?
