Information is a fantastic product that lends itself to being
sold on the internet possibly better than any of the other
products that I have covered or am going to cover. It is also
much easier to produce without any special skills or knowledge
of complicated software or programming. You don’t have
to be some kind of computer genius to produce a great information
product. For this reason I am actually going to spend more
time on the concept of information-selling as an “e-business”
than any of the rest of these “e-products”. It
has so many operational advantages (these we will be covering
later) and it is what most people are on the internet looking
for anyway. Hansen and Allen in their book, The One Minute
Millionaire, call this selling of information over the internet
“info-preneuring”. It is a word hybrid of the
words information and entrepreneur, in case you were wondering.
Simply put, you market and sell information over the internet.
The web is full of fantastic information which is the primary
reason most of us surf the internet. Many folks do research
on the internet with the terrific access to almost any kind
of information you can think of. There are online libraries
giving us access to entire data bases of information without
ever having to leave our homes. Many lawyers are doing much
of their research work online with the help of legal information
sites like Lexis Nexis.
There are hundreds of thousands of fantastic recipes for
great dishes websites like the Food Network’s (foodtv.com)
where you can even print recipes that are already the perfect
size for a recipe box! There are great online tutorials and
how-to’s providing instruction and tips on the most
popular software, web design tips, or other things.
The internet has also completely revolutionized the news.
Whether conservative or liberal, no one denies that the likes
of Matt Drudge and his Drudge Report (drudgereport.com) have
completely changed the way we get our news today. Mr. Drudge
actually writes very few of the articles featured on his web
site. He simply finds the articles from other journalistic
sources and creates his own “headlines” on his
site, linking to the article in its original source. How clever
is that? Drudge is free to run his business from absolutely
anywhere in the world with internet access! He runs around
in jeans and a polo. Is this freedom or what?
Many individuals now have a news site or sports site set
as their default home page so that it pops up when they open
up their browser at work in the morning. Now they don’t
have to pick up a newspaper on the way in to work every morning!
There are thousands of blogs people turn to everyday as their
source of information. The old “Big Three” networks
are a dying breed as people turn to 24 hour cable and the
internet for much of their “news” these days.
The internet and the digital age our rapidly changing the
way we get information by the minute!
The ultimate information to sell on the
web: The e-book!
There is one form of information in particular that I believe
is a very powerful and effective way to make money on the
web. It is an e- book. I have devoted a good section of our
book (which, if you haven’t already noticed, is an e-book
itself) to this very topic. The possibilities are limitless
for those who choose to this ebusiness model. Even though
we cover e-books much more thoroughly in "How Ordinary
People Make Extraordinary Money Online!", I do want to
lightly touch on a few of the the major advantages of e-books
over other types of information based or other types of online
business while we are currently on the subject.
The e-book is probably the most versatile,
the easiest to set up, the most trouble free, and one of the
least expensive products to sell online. Your e-book
can be about absolutely anything at all! It can be about what
YOU care about (although it will definitely be easier to sell
to others if they are interest in the subject of your book
as well). No complicated databases need to be set up, and
no special skills in software or programming are needed to
complete your unique e-book. Once you have finished writing
your book and have made it available on the web (I’ll
be telling you how to do this), it is finished and you don’t
necessarily ever have to tamper with it again. You should
be able to invest all of your precious time in marketing and
promoting your new book rather than keep working on it. The
most beautiful thing of all is … IT COST YOU ABSOLUTELY
NOTHING TO PRODUCE! Sure you’ll spend some time on it,
but other than that it doesn’t have to cost you a penny,
really. Keep all of this in mind as we work on your online
business together.
These are just a few examples of the endless possibilities
of true “e-businesses” that really get the most
out of their “e”! I guarantee you that there are
countless more that have not even be thought of yet. Something
that is really fun is to sit down with a Yellow Pages and
go page to page thinking how a product or service could be
offered more effectively electronically. Of course there may
not be a way to electronically deliver a hot pizza or dry
cleaning ( …yet ), but see how clever you can be. Maybe
you can simply eliminate a costly step with the internet even
for these folks. Think broadly! The next big “e-business”
concept could be yours
