Convenience is the currency of the new millennium. Time is
the most valuable asset to us all. Since all of us are already
on information overload, with too much information to absorb
and too little time to absorb it, we all will be looking for
information that is far more "time-friendly." As
we already know, there is all kinds of information out there
on the internet, and most of it is not very useful. The reason
you as an online business operator are going to give everyone
to choose your information is that your information is easy
to find quickly, exactly what people are looking for, and
easy to quickly put to use well.
Internet users have quickly learned to turn to the internet
as a powerful resource to find answers and solutions. Web
sites such as Google, WebMD, Wikipedia, Internet Movie Data
Base (IMBD), Lexis Nexis, and so many others know this well.
It is this convenient access to quality information that makes
the internet so appealing and so useful to us all. If someone
intends to make money on the internet, this convenience factor
must never be overlooked.
Not only do web users turn to the internet for convenient
answers and information, but more and more people everyday
are turning to the internet for their shopping needs as well.
We are all familiar with the term "Black Friday"
which refers to the heavily shopped Friday after Thanksgiving
and is generally recognized as the kick-off of the holiday
shopping season. Almost every store has a big sale on "Black
Friday" to throw shoppers into a shopping frenzy. "Black
Friday " is famous for being the biggest shopping day
of the year, but this has been proven to be a myth.
Just as "Black Friday" has become a legendary conventional
shopping day during the holiday shopping season, there is
a new popular holiday shopping day called "Cyber Monday"
on the horizon giving "Black Friday" a run for it's
money. "Cyber Monday" was coined in the holiday
shopping season of 2005 and refers to the supposedly busiest
online shopping day of the year, the Monday immediately following
"Black Friday". "Cyber Monday" has basically
become the "Black Friday" of online shopping. Both
"Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday" are
actually more urban myths when it comes to the actual shopping
statistics, but our point about "Cyber Monday" is
this: Vastly more and more people every year are doing their
shopping online from the convenience of their own homes using
the internet.
Holiday online shopping in 2006 is up 23% from
last year so far this season according to Nielsen//RetRatings.
More and more shoppers seem to prefer avoiding the hustle
and bustle of malls and gridlock traffic for the comfort of
their own homes to meet their holiday shopping needs. According
to comScore, in 2006, "Black Friday" itself (normally
not a heavy online shopping day by any means) saw a more than
43% jump in online purchases from last year. More than 70%
of Americans will purchase at least part of their Christmas
shopping online.
Convenience is indeed the currency of the future.
