After getting extremely excited about the possibilities of
running an online business, it is often at this point that
most feel as if they have just run into a brick wall. All
of the sudden you ask, “What can I possibly sell”,
or “what knowledge do I possess that people would possibly
be willing to purchase from me?”, “How can I possibly
pull this off? I am not a salesman!”, or “I’m
sure that someone has thought of that idea already.”
This seems to be the point where prospective aspiring online
entrepreneurs get intimidated, overwhelmed, or even discouraged.
They can even start talking themselves out of every idea they
think of! DON’T FALL INTO THIS PITFALL! Trust me!
There are almost unlimited possibilities as to what our online
business could be, but I am going to primarily focus on one
in particular that is absolutely the most realistic and practical
for any of us. Obviously I wouldn’t want to spend a
great deal of time discussing businesses that would require
a very specialized skill (like computer programming, software
development, or database engineering). Nor would it be prudent
for me to go over online business ideas that would require
a chunk of start-up money to get started with for equipment
or inventory (like and inventory of books or extremely specialized
computer hardware). There are many, many possible services
and products that can be marketed and sold over the internet,
but not all of these are practical options for the majority
of us average “dummies” (I use the term “dummy
“ affectionately, of course, and include myself in this
category).
I want to get you making a steady and significant income
with only a computer, an internet connection, a little bit
of web savvy, which I am helping you with. We want to make
your business powerful and prosperous by developing a product
that requires little to no special expertise other than the
experience, knowledge, and perspective that you already possess.
We are going to use unique perspective and presentation to
set your business apart! We are going to arm you with an amazingly
effective yet inexpensive marketing strategy. And lastly,
we want to set up your business so that it will run on auto-pilot
while you go to the store, walk your dog, talk to your son
or daughter, kiss your wife, or even go on a well deserved
family vacation! Ready?
So what kind of online business would allow you to have all
of these characteristics? What kind of product would allow
you to set up only once, to do all of your hard work just
in the preparation phase only, would allow you to sit back
an enjoy life more without doing anything repetitive or labor
intensive like packaging and shipping products, rendering
a service repeatedly. What kind of operation would allow us
to invest the majority of our time and energy in marketing,
mild maintenance, follow up, and a periodic minor tweak now
and then? An e-book! I am not
telling you that your online business absolutely has to be
the selling of an e-book, … but I am strongly recommending
it. If nothing else, in my opinion I feel strongly that even
if your heart’s desire is another type of business and
that is where you prefer your energies to be placed, no problem.
But I do strongly believe that anyone who is about to get
involved in online business should have at least one information
selling site set up. The potential simplicity and effectiveness
of this kind of product and online business is just far too
powerful to ignore. Remember, with online business it is very
easy to have many irons in the fire at one time because the
cost is so little.
I am going to be talking about this concept of selling information
the most since it is by far the most versatile and practical
method for nearly all of us. If you have skill or experience
in computer programming or something or if you have lots of
capital to invest, then great. But the vast majority of us
do not, so I am here primarily to help the latter of the two.
I believe strongly that the selling of information, also referred
to as “info-preneuring” in “The One Minute
Millionaire”, is the absolute best way to make money
on the internet for the average guy or girl from the average
background. You are more than welcome to pursue something
else and apply all of the principles outlined in my book to
that business plan, but I truly recommend that you strongly
consider the real advantages of “info-preneuring”
even if for no other reason than to just apply as many of
these clear advantages to your own idea.
Just to be clear, the guidelines I lay out in my book are
powerful in building ANY kind of business online, but the
"soda machine" plan is the most rewarding and hands
free model once your business is up and running. So, by all
means go where your heart leads you with these guidelines...
but at least keep that "soda machine" model in the
back of you mind. You'll come back to it someday, I promise! |
