Relevance is not only the primary criteria that a search engine
uses to evaluate a site’s content by for its search
results, it is also the criteria that the engines themselves
are evaluated on by their users. If the viewer executes a
search on a search engine and turns up unrelated results,
the viewer is probably not going to find your pages or that
search engine particularly helpful.
It is in everyone’s best interest that the content
on the pages that you submit are as relevant to the visitor’s
search as possible. It is good for the visitor, it is good
for the search engines, and it is definitely good for you,
the website owner.
How would you feel if you executed a search for a Photoshop
CS2 tutorial and all you turned up was recipes for sweet potato
pie? Wouldn’t you be a little annoyed? This is why it
is extremely important to target the appropriate keywords
and phrases on your pages and help the search engines get
the best information in front of the appropriate viewer. This
is an absolute must if the web is to remain a viable source
of information. Doing this properly helps all of us.
How easy do you think it would be to sell a mini-van to a
single teenager? Mmm... probably not too easy, right?
