Wordtracker
is an online service that provides important keyword information
to help you position your site far more prominently in the market
place. It allows you to greatly enhance your meta tags, page
title and document body to increase your visibility.
Helps you spot surges of interest on the internet. It also allows
you to take advantage of other people's spelling mistakes to
increase your web site traffic.
Wordtracker
is used in 3 very easy steps:
Step 1 is to simply enter your
anticipated term. Wordtracker
responds by searching its database, and gives you up to 500
relevant keywords that have actually been entered into the
major search by real internet traffic engines in the last
2 months. Click on any of these keywords to get a subset of
more closely related keywords.
Step 2 is simply to scroll though these keywords and
place the terms that are relevant to your site in your “basket”.
These keywords are numbered to tell you how many times these
terms had actually been searched over the last two months,
and placed in the order of most searched on top and least
searched on bottom. Your basket will hold as many as 50,000
potential keywords. I personally choose all of the words that
are relevant to my site and have been searched on at least
200 times in the last 2 months. The rest of these keywords
are not used often enough to draw any significant difference
in my site traffic. After you have collected a pretty good
number of prospective keywords and phrases (I find 100 -300
to do me just fine), then you are then ready for the next
step.
Step 3 Run what is called a Competition Search, which
it does in each of the major search engines individually for
you to let you know what you are up against. It actually tests
them in the search engines right there and then, letting you
know almost instantly how your keywords will do! Executing
a Competition Search will simply take this already twice refined
list and find out which of the keywords or phrases are going
to be truly effective for my site. Wordtracker measures this
with a formula called KEYWORD KEYWORD
EFFECTIVENESS INDEX (KEI)
The KEI compares the Count result (number of times a keyword
has appeared in our data) with the number of competing web
pages to pinpoint exactly which keywords are most effective
for your campaign.
In a nutshell: The higher the KEI, the more popular your keywords
are, and the less competition they have. This means you have
a better chance of getting to the top in search engine rankings!
In case you are interested, here is a much more detailed look
at the KEI, how it works, and why it is so helpful:
Detailed Explanation Of Keyword Effectiveness
Index:
The KEI is a measure of how effective a keyword will be for
your web site. The derivation of the formula for KEI is based
on three axioms:
1) The KEI for a keyword should increase
if its popularity increases. Popularity is defined
as the number present in the "Count" column of WordTracker.
This axiom is self-explanatory.
2) The KEI for a keyword should decrease
if it becomes more competitive. Competitiveness is
defined as the number of sites which a search engine e.g.
AltaVista displays when you search for that keyword using
exact match search.
To clarify, competitiveness is defined as the number of sites
that a search engine displays when you search for that keyword
using exact match search (that is with quotes surrounding
the term), as opposed to those web sites returned when entering
the phrase only partially (that is without quotes).
3) If a keyword becomes more popular
and more competitive at the same time such that the ratio
between its popularity and competitiveness remains the same,
its KEI should increase. This is the least significant
factor in determining the KEI of a keyword, but because it
does have some impact on a keyword’s relevance, it has
to be factored into the KEI. A page that utilizes a keyword
that is both popular and competitive has more chance of being
viewed than a page with keywords that are neither popular
or competitive.
Wordtracker
is an extremely essential tool for search engine optimization.
It is a subscription based service, but is amazingly inexpensive
for the valuable information it offers. You can try out a
limited version for absolutely free (even the limited version
gives you a pretty good sense of which direction you should
go with your keywords), or you can purchase a single day of
use of the full version, by the week, month, three months,
or even year if you start to web optimize for other companies.
A single day can be purchased for only $7.07 American while
a year subscription costs $235.75. Don’t try to get
